STAGECRAFT & TECHNOLOGY SUPERVISOR
ETCA seeks a Stagecraft and Technology Supervisor for the inaugural cohort of their vocational training program for stagehands and audio/video technicians, set to run from July 2025 – May 2026. The Stagecraft and Technology Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the facilities of The Chance, including the theater, the Lab, the student lounge, and all shared and common areas. The Stagecraft and Technology Supervisor will also be a key instructor within the program, contributing to the development and delivery of the Audio and Video curriculum. Candidates with experience as an Audio or Video Technician, Crew Supervisor, Event Supervisor or teaching production skills in an educational environment are encouraged to apply. This role will report to the founding Head of Stagecraft and Technology. This is a one-year contract position, starting in June 2025.
Job Responsibilities
- Facilitate hands-on training for all Stagecraft and Technology students, leading and/or supporting the weekly class schedule, focused on building production skills in Audio and Video for careers in live events.
- Support the Head of Stagecraft and Technology to develop the Audio and Video curriculum.
- Accountable for the day-to-day function of The Chance Theater as a learning lab and performing space. Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the inventory and maintenance of all equipment and tools
- Training all students or outside technicians on the proper usage of equipment
- Maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the space
- Leading set-up and breakdown for all workshops, artists, seminars and rentals
- Facilitating tours or walk-throughs for partners, vendors, potential students, and artists
- Managing the procurement and sourcing of additional equipment and gear from external suppliers or partners
- Design and implement systems for student use of The Chance and the training center’s equipment, ensuring tools and equipment are managed safely and responsibly.
- Liaise directly with artists and supervise onsite students and overhire staff as they produce and support events onsite at The Chance, providing technical support and mentorship throughout load-in, rehearsal, performance and strike.
- Collaborate with the Head of Stagecraft and Technology to ensure compliance with established contracts and agreements for events onsite The Chance.
- Participate in the execution of the events calendar, acting as the onsite supervisor and overseeing the load-in and load-out of any production elements.
- Use hand tools and power tools to perform basic repairs.
- This position will work on-site a minimum of three days a week, with increased in-person requirements and a varied schedule while the program is running. This position will work some weekends as needed.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience supervising a production team
- Experience teaching production skills preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with people of all backgrounds, including students and community partners
- A passion for mentorship and developing others in their careers.
- Proficient understanding of safety protocols and regulations in live events. OSHA 10 or 30 a plus, but not required
- Must possess knowledge of basic hand tools, power tools, and be comfortable on ladders accessing heights of 20 feet
- Must be able to lift 30lbs at a time
- Must be able to utilize stairs frequently throughout the day
- Valid New York State Driver’s License
- Ability to work in U.S.
Compensation & Benefits
- This role is a one-year contract, starting in June 2025.
- Salary Range: $75,000-$85,000

- In addition to ETCA’s observed holidays (which includes two full weeks off for winter holiday break), employees are eligible for 10 days of vacation and personal time and 5 days of sick leave per year.
